In 2016, we’ve seen how video can change the way we interact with each other, and with businesses. In this video we’ll cover the 7 video trends we think you should look out for in 2017.
Virtual Reality & 360 Video
Virtual reality and 360 videos are still the new kids on the block, but they’re gaining popularity quickly. Brands are beginning to realize the value of captivating their audience with immersive content.
Social Video Trends
Have you noticed that Facebook seems to be overrun by videos these days? Well, it’s no coincidence. Facebook invested heavily in their video strategy, and daily views have increased by 7 Billion over the past year. Similarly, networks like Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat have invested in their video approach. In 2017, don’t be surprised if video content is used more than text on social media.
Live Video Trends
Speaking of social media, Facebook’s live video revolution has kick-started a movement. Individuals and brands have been using live content to better interact with their followers, and it’s been working well. In fact, people watch live videos for 3 times longer than they would a non-live video.
Mobile Video
Mobile video views grew six times faster than desktop views in 2015. Since then, mobile video has only gained momentum. In Fact, YouTube reports that mobile consummation rises by 100% every year.
Video & Web Design
Video on your website is crucial. In fact, a staggering 90% of online shoppers said they find video helps them make decisions when buying. It’s not just for online stores, though. When any website has video content, the average internet user spends 88% more time than a website without video.
In 2017, you’ll see some businesses investing in custom video platforms to support their websites and drive greater engagement externally, and internally. Things like product updates, marketing material, company newsletters, and training will be handled entirely by video.
Sales Resources
In recent studies, Wyzowl found that when people are looking to learn about a product, a mere 4% of people prefer reading a manual, 5% choose to talk with someone on the phone, and a huge 44% like watching videos.
So, people like it, but why is it so effective? Well, because watching a video is fun! It’s easier than reading text and it’s the next best thing to experiencing the product in person.
Email Video
Video and email are starting to become quite the team. According to a recent Forrester study, including video in email increases click-through rates by 200-300%. In fact, merely including the word “video” in your subject boosts open rates by 19%.
In 2017, more and more brands will rely less on text-heavy content in their emails and more on videos.
What Are Your Thoughts?
So, 2017 seems to be establishing itself as the year of video. Of course, you never know what will happen next, but one thing’s for sure. Video isn’t going anywhere.
